Frequently Asked Questions

Lessons

What types of lessons do you give?

We cater to most styles of riding, including, Western, Western Reining, Barrel Racing, Trail Riding, and ALL styles are started with natural horsemanship riding techniques and basic horsemanship skills.

How safe are your horses?

In the state of Colorado, horseback riding is considered to be an inherently dangerous activity. Horses, being a prey animal, have a natural instinct to flee when threatened. Having said this, we ALWAYS take every precaution to be as safe as possible. We match the rider to the most appropriate horse, and take every safety precaution. If this is a serious concern, references are always available.

Do we have to buy a helmet?

Wearing helmets for any riding at the stable is MANDATORY- no exceptions. We do have a supply of helmets that are SEI/FEI certified. As supply permits we are happy to loan you a helmet for your lessons. At some point in your riding pursuits you may wish to purchase one of your own.

What type of equipment to we need to bring?

We do not ask that you make big purchases before your first lessons, but we do suggest these common sense choices: Boots or a sturdy shoe - Crocs are NOT permitted on grounds. Jeans or a riding pant. Sunglasses, and sunscreen  even in the winter months!

How old do you have to be to take a lesson?

All students MUST be at least 7 years old, or older. There is no limit for how old a rider can be.

Camps

What do I need to send my camper with each day?

Campers are required to bring three large bottles of water, three snacks and a sack lunch to camp each and every day. We do not provide these items. Parents are urged to dress students in sturdy jeans or riding pants, a hat, and lots of sunscreen. Riding boots are preferred, but a sturdy shoe is fine. Crocs, and flip flops are not acceptable on the stable grounds.

What type of camp is best for my child?

Horse Camp:  Horse Camp is suitable for all riders, and we cater to all age groups, and do make the specific needs or inherent abilities for each student part of our daily curriculum. Riders of all abilities can enjoy and develop fabulous skills at Horse Camp.

Refund Policy:  No refunds will be provided for camp fees.  Under certain circumstances camp credit will be extended for another date when available.

It is my greatest wish at Mounting Miracles Ranch to share ALL the wonderful aspects of equine activities.
We strive to create a community oriented culture and develop friendships centered around these amazing horses.
We welcome all people, encourage diversity and teamwork, and insist that this will not be a cost prohibitive pursuit at our facility.

Campers will help catch, groom, and saddle their camp horse.  Then spend their camp day taking riding lessons, playing games on horseback, and doing mounted drills to music.  Each camper is assigned a pony or horse to use for the entire week.  They are placed in small riding skill groups and work with their instructor to improve their riding skills during their week.

Campers enjoy the fresh outdoor air, learn farm life, interact with farm animals, goats, chickens, horses, mini horse, barn cats.  We focus on kindness to each other and animals.

This is a working camp: Campers are expected to participate in the daily chores and activities involved in horse care and responsibility. We instill a positive work ethic and sense of responsibility and accountability in our young riders that provides positive self esteem and confidence in overcoming obstacles, mastering communication skills and developing a great sense of teamwork. .

For parents with scheduling conflicts: we are pleased to arrange extended camper care and supervision after the scheduled hours of camp.
